Here’s to a spectacular 2015!
You’re On Film! Photography is kicking off 2015 with a terrific start! We’ve launched the business and the website, and on 3 January, kicked of a brand new year of concert photography as well.
The first shoot of the year was at 37 Main – A Rock Cafe in Johns Creek, Georgia. 37 Main – A Rock Café is a high energy venue with a great restaurant, fabulous beer selection, and incredible music venue. This was my inaugural visit to 37 Main – A Rock Café, but it certainly won’t be my last. The music venue side of the establishment is well laid out with two easy to access bars and great stage. The venue has limited seating which may be reserved in advance by table and a roomy general admission viewing area. The bar staff and management were friendly, approachable, and really know their stuff.
It was a local band show Saturday night when The UpSide, Jacks River and Nine Times Blue opened for Drivin’ n Cryin’. I’d never seen The UpSide or Jacks River before, but I will certainly be out to see them again. The UpSide rocked the house with their original tunes Fall on Me and Pain, and tossed in a rendition of Pink Floyd’s The Wall Pt 2 that had the crowd singing along. Jacks River bills themselves as a “funkadelic blues” band and from the first note, it was obvious why. Their set included an interesting mix of covers from the likes of Jimi Hendrix, the Allman Brothers, and Stevie Wonder.
Third up for the night was up and coming alternative band Nine Times Blue who owned the show with a slamming set of originals. Their current single “Only Lonely” is getting a fair amount of airplay on the local radio airwaves, but my socks were rocked off by Crazy to Think. I’m no record company executive, but I do believe these guys are gonna go far. They were the perfect lead-in to pump up the crowd and get us ready for the final act.
Headlining the show were Atlanta area phenoms Drivin’ N Cryin.’ I’ve been listening to DnC since the 80’s, but this was my first time seeing them live and I was blown away. They put on a live show that’s every bit as driving as the first part of the band’s name and pretty much had me crying that I’ve waited all these years and missed so many amazing shows. This won’t be the last time I see these guys live.
If you’re local to the Atlanta area, make sure you drop in to have dinner and catch a show at 37 Main – A Rock Café. You won’t be sorry you did. No matter where you are, make sure you catch The UpSide, Jacks River, Nine Times Blue, and Drivin’ n Cryin’ live in concert when they come to your town. It’s well worth it!
